Your hosts Matthew & Theresa Cowan, along with their 4 daughter's and grandson were tired of the hustle and bustle of urban life, they decided to make a change and live a more purposeful life. After selling their family home in the suburbs, quitting their 9-5 inner city jobs they left life as they knew it and made the move to Victoria's magnificent high country..
Willuna Sanctuary previoulsy known as Mount Pilot Tourist Farm is set over 63 acres, located between the historical mining towns of Beechworth and Chiltern, at the base of the stunning Mount Pilot and backing on to the 25,000HA Mount Pilot - Chiltern National Park. Theresa and Matt knew it was the perfect spot to provide a sanctuary to the many animals that now call Willuna home..
Our purpose and mission is to provide a forever home and safe haven to any animal displaced, lost or in need of a loving place to live out their years free from harm. Saving one animal will not change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal.
Willuna's farmstay and event hosting allows others to come and enjoy Willuna Sanctuary, spend time loving the furry residents and learning about animal welfare and resuce first hand. All proceeds are used to fund the operation and care of the animals. When you stay at Willuna you know you are supporting a great cause and saving the lives of many animals in need...
